The first G-Shock was designed by an engineer working for Casio named Kikuo Ibe. It was released in April 1983 and by 1998, 19 million G-Shocks had been sold worldwide. This GRX 5600 is introduced out of their Classic range and features a toughened frame which was originally inspired by surfers. This model includes the infamous shock resistant technology and solar powered battery which charges from the slightest amount of either heat or light. It also has both Moon and Tide graphs within the clock face which relays a specific date and time, and a curved-shaped wrist band for a more agronomical fit.
