In 1949 Mr Kihachiro Onitsuka began making sports shoes from a small workshop in his home, in Kobe, Japan. From humble beginnings grew a story of sporting triumph that would go on to become the modern day ASICS brand. Onitsuka Tiger remains unique, as the true Japanese sports heritage brand, representing the creative face of modern, metropolitan Japan.
Originally known as the Van Doren Rubber Company, Vans started producing skateboarding specific shoes in Anaheim, California, in 1966. Throughout the following decades, Vans established itself as the market leaders in skate and BMX footwear and since become the brand of choice at the heart of many youth cultures.
